Citizen Bee Regional Competition Winners!
Every year, students across the state compete in the Texas Citizen Bee, which is hosted by the Law Related Education department of the State Bar of Texas. The Texas Citizen Bee is a statewide civic education program and competition and is funded by the Sumners Foundation.
Students take a 35-question multiple-choice test covering content from the U.S. History EOC. The top 10 finalists advance to the verbal rounds, which require each student to answer one question from each of the following categories: 1) People/Events 2) Documents and Supreme Court Cases and 3) Constitution.
Region 9 had 12 students from 3 high schools compete in the Citizen Bee on March 27th and 28th! 10 students progressed from the written round to the final verbal round. At last night's School Board meeting, we were able to honor some of our amazing Teachers and Staff. We recognized our Campus Teachers of the Year. These outstanding educators were selected by their peers and colleagues as their much-deserving representatives for their respective campuses. The Teachers of the Year for 2024 are: IC Evans: Brittany Boyd John Tower: Amber Reitz Overton Ray: Rachel Moxley Burkburnett Middle School: Robin McAdams Burkburnett High School: Robyn Little Gateway Accelerated Academy: Tiffany Gunnels We also recognized a couple of our other departments. Our Transportation Dept announced our dedicated Bus Driver of the Year, Maddison Hickman. We also honored the leadership team in our Child Nutrition Department for passing our major audit with no issues! Those honored were Child Nutrition Director Deb Welch and her two main assistants Pam Cravens and Rosalinda Dominguez. All of these employees and colleagues are the epitome of The Bulldog Way, and we couldn't be the district we are without them.

Since we did not have to use them this winter, they are now surplus minutes and converted into days off. If you need a copy of the calendar, you can find it here:
